Prefers sandy ridges or clay soils. Sun, drought, fire, and poor soil tolerant. Among wiregrass and other pine species. Recognized by long 15+ inch needles. Grows in Zones 7+.

Small to medium deciduous tree that can reach 80+ ft. Prefers moist to wet soils but will adapt to irrigated landscapes. Leaves change color in Fall and are shorter and more closely bound on mature plants than Bald Cypress. Also, Pond Cypress can be found in greater numbers further south. Sun tolerant. Grows in Zones 7+. Landscape value, especially around lake and pond margins.

Habitats include inland waters such as bays, brackish shorelines, canals, and tidal swamps. Found Zones 9+. Significant wildlife habitat. Wave and wind break. Used extensively for soil stabilization in tropics worldwide. Most popular of mangrove family.

Large deciduous tree to 100+ ft. Found growing in wet areas such as swampy sites, lake and pond margins, and stream banks. Zones 7+, except the Florida Keys. Red flowers from December to March. Seed located in papery wing. Three-lobed foliage. Full sun and partial shade tolerant.
