Perennial dune grass known for its extensive root mats, which can reach over 15+ ft. Commonly utilized for sand stabilization after beach renourishment projects. Found in Zones 7+. Salt, over wash, drought, and sun tolerance. Grows and recruits quickly in warm weather. Landscape value for coastal communities. Reaches 5+ ft. height. Grass becomes dense and recruits vegetatively. Spikelets Spring-Fall. Leaves similar in pale green color and length to Panic Grass but thinner. Protected by state statutes. Seed is a wildlife food source.
