24th Annual Growth Management & Environmental Permitting Conference

Daytona Beach, FL – February 25, 2008 – Aquatic Plants of Florida, Inc. announced that it participated in the 24th Annual Growth Management & Environmental Permitting conference held in Daytona Beach, Florida. The event was produced in cooperation with the Florida Department of Community Affairs and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

Conference attendees could register for two primary programs: 1) water school and/or 2) essentials of environmental resource permitting.

The water school event provided advanced training sessions on water quality and Florida’s nationally acclaimed TMDL program. The permitting program focused on advanced training sessions on Florida’s unique approach to wetlands, stormwater quality, and surface water management permitting.

Courses included topics such as growth management, environmental issues and the 2008 legislature, transportation, housing, planning, energy and climate change, permitting, and sustainability.

Tom Pelham, appointed Secretary of the Florida Department of Community Affairs by Governor Charlie Crist, served as a keynote speaker. Mr. Pelham was joined by more than 30 speakers.

Attendees included state & local government, architects, surveyors, environmental managers and consultants, business & industry, engineers, agribusiness, economic development councils, school board officials, and landowners.
