Medium to large evergreen tree that can reach 110+ ft. Found in stands across the Southeast. Most historical natural stands were cut down for the forest products industry. Prefers sandy ridges or clay soils. Sun, drought, fire, and poor soil tolerant. Among wiregrass and other pine species. Recognized by long 15+ inch needles. Grows in Zones 7+.
