SARASOTA, FL – August 29, 2006 – Aquatic Plants of Florida, Inc. has been invited to join Stetson University’s Environmental Responsibility Task Force.
The Task Force is dedicated to helping the University align itself with conservation initiatives. Stetson University is the first major institution of higher education in the United States to have a policy of using only native plants for landscaping on its 174-acre main campus in DeLand, Florida. The University, through its Native Plant Initiative (http://www.stetson.edu/plants/), has emerged as an early leader and advocate of native plant landscaping and education. Additionally, Stetson College of Law in St. Petersburg, Florida offers programs in biodiversity and environmental law.
Students at the University benefit from academic programs developed to promote environmental conservation and protection. Programs bring science, law and business together to enhance environmental responsibility. Stetson is at the forefront of interdisciplinary business and environment education with innovative programs such as its Eco-Asset Management Certificate of Concentration (EAM).
Aquatic Plants of Florida is proud to affiliate with Stetson University’s Environmental Responsibility Task Force and looks forward to working with its members on the 2006-07 agenda of events.
